# Grandtell > Pick questions for a parent or grandparent. They answer one at a time from a large-type link, and the whole family reads the stories in chapters. Grandtell sends questions to a parent or grandparent one at a time and keeps their answers for the family. The person who keeps the book signs in with a passkey (WebAuthn; no password, no email address) and starts a book with what the family calls the storyteller, their IANA time zone, a question day and a cadence (every 7 or 14 days). Each book has three secret links: the storyteller's large-type page (one question, a text box that saves as they type, Done, Skip, and My answers), the family reader page (answered stories in chapters by 7 life stages, follow-ups and suggestions, which the owner approves), and an ICS calendar feed of expected question days. The first question goes out when the owner sends it; after a release, the next goes at 09:00 local on the first question day at least cadence minus 3 days later, and only if the last question was answered or skipped. The next question is the top of the owner's list, or a house question (154 in all) from the life stage with the fewest answers. Data is kept in a Cloudflare D1 database; link secrets are stored only as SHA-256 digests. Owners can download everything and delete their account (hard deleted after 7 days). ## Tool - [Story questions for a parent or grandparent](https://grandtell.com/): What the site does: the family picks questions, the storyteller answers one at a time from a large-type link, and everyone reads the stories in chapters. ## How it works - [How the questions, the links and the book work](https://grandtell.com/how-it-works/): The release rules in order: the first question, the question day at 9:00, cadence, skips, the house questions, limits, suggestions, deletion. ## Reference - [Questions to ask grandparents, by life stage](https://grandtell.com/questions/): The full house list of 154 questions in 7 life stages, from childhood to wisdom, each one ready to add to a book. - [FAQ](https://grandtell.com/faq/): Accounts, how questions arrive, unanswered questions, who sees what, editing, speaking instead of typing, photos, the book, limits and deletion. - [About](https://grandtell.com/about/): What the site is, what it is not, and who it is for. ## Policies - [Privacy](https://grandtell.com/privacy/): Exactly what is stored on the server, where, for how long, and how to export and delete it. - [Terms of use](https://grandtell.com/terms/): What the site can be relied on for, your stories, acceptable use and support. ## Pricing Free.
